Fox American Idol held better than expected Wednesday, averaged 29.8 million viewers over two hours, until just 2% compared to last season. The results were somewhat surprising, because Idol Tuesday was first with 30.4 million viewers, down 9% compared to previous year and was the show for the lowest number since 2004 season opener.
